Brand identity to support 660 year old company strategic objectives

The Company of Merchant Adventurers

The Company of Merchant Adventurers recognised a strategic need to balance their business, education and entrepreneurial activities whilst retaining and protecting their historic property. Ideas Group were engaged to interrogate their strategy and rebrand Merchant Adventurers’ Hall.

Open to the public, the 660 year old Merchant Adventurers' Hall is a museum and prestigious events, weddings and conference venue. We worked with the Company to reinvent their brand to deliver more museum visitors and reposition their venue hire business. Our work included a brand audit, situational analysis and board consultations to gain their insights and buy in before honing their market positioning, brand proposition and identity.

This intelligent thinking led to the creative work to transform their stakeholder and audience engagement: developing powerful visual identity based on a symbol unique to the Hall with a sense of modernity to reflect the Company’s entrepreneurial ethos. Brand communications, evolving elements of the visitor experience and providing creative input for the launch of a new café and shop drew on our breadth of experience and expertise.

Following the rebrand the Company achieved their targets and budgets: both substantial increases in visitors and spend, and consolidation of their position as a prestige event venue.
